I need to cut off the engine mounting brackets to change their location. They are 4mm plate - 60mm long - welded with a rather fat weld, upright on
the top chassis rail. What tool/technique would you use? I tried a hacksaw, but my god, my arm was like lead within a few minutes, and I had made
bugger all progress. Am I just being a girl?!

angry grinder
Plasma cutter
Or angry grinder with thin cutting disc
Decent hacksaw blade and technique?
Angle grinder fitted with a .8mm or 1.0mm cutting disk.
Will cut like butter & leave very little damage.
Thats asuming you can get in there to do it.

Something like this?
I would be worried that they are designed for cutting very thin steel? The base of the weld is about 10mm across... Would they cope with that?

Wayno,
You're going to have to change your avatar - I just can't read the words when that's on screen! (or should that be "when
they're on screen"?)
Hang on - I'll type with my eyes closed - I recommend the slitting disks too. Keep a light touch and they'll go through without problems.
Should I open my eyes now?
