There's a much easier way. Get a length of plastic tubing such that one ond can fit comfortably into one of your ears, or rig up some kind of adaptor.

Then, run the engine and hold the other end in the airstream to each TB in turn. You can judge the airflow by the hiss produced. Obviously you need to hold the tube at the same relative position in each TB.

Try Halfords thats were i got mine not a bad price

i've got one but its with another forum member. The tube method is supposed to be better as mine (designed for SU's but will still work) is affected by the pulse of the throttle body.

If you still want to try it let me know and i'll get mine back.

(or go to the Leicester meet up and get fireman sam (can't remember the username - yellow stuart taylor fireblade) to lend it to you).

The trick to getting good results is to hold the tube/stethoscope at exactly the same relative position for each intake.

I tend to use a mechanics stephascope ? with the probe bit removed , just place the pipe into the T/Bs at BT suggests. Find it works better for me than a single pipe and leaves a hand free for tweaking .

If using the tube/ear method, don't actually stick the tube in your ear 'ole! Unless you need your ears slurping out!
Just hold the tube near your ear!

I have a proper synchrometer, that works, and I also now have it back in my garage!

MikeR, sorry but that one you lent me is no good, not for a 2.0 engine at any rate, on any damper setting it just bounces from one end of the scale to the other!!!

I have a proper one if you want to borrow it! (fireman dave had borrowed it but he brought it back a while ago)
