I need to make the taper in my upright slightly bigger to take my ball joint. Whats the best way to do this?
Also i need to make a tapered hole for the top drag link. Best way for this? Solutions please.
Cheers
A cone cutter?
The proper tool is a tapered reamer - but don't ask me where to get one from, as I have no idea what taper is needed.
I'm sure someone on here will know the answer...

These are good suppliers.
i think axminster tools do them for about a tenner.
with a bit of research i managed to find a suitable balljoint that fitted the top taper from my miata uprights
it turned out to be from a b2000 pickup truck and had an M16 thread
what upright and which joint is it, personally i would investigate all alternatives before i started drilling tapers in my uprights.
this kind of sounds harsh and dismissive but its not meant that way at all. just trying to save you some trouble
Does anybody have any pictures of a taper which has been "reamed" using the axminster "reamer" which is suggested in every post about tapers? I cannot believe it does the job correctly! How ever I don't mind being proved wrong

If in any doubt as to how accurate the taper has been reamed check it out with engineers blue or use grinding paste and lap the ball joint taper to the upright.
yep forced to admit it looks a lot better than I would have expected
