Electrolysing brake calipers
r1_pete - 30/5/08 at 08:04 AM

About to give this electrolysis a go, but was just wondering if I use it for brake calipers will it knacker the bores?

not if you leave the pistons in.

it doesn't do anything to clean steel from my experinces, so i'd say you should be ok, but i'd still try keep the electrolyte out of the insides of the caliper.

Doesn't affect anything thats not rusty, so, if the bores are rusting it will remove it. Nice shiny bores will be OK in the magic machine.

Currently doing the lawn mower in a makeshift pond, working very well indeed. As usual it’s only affecting the rusty bits, ignoring the aluminium. Took it out to have a nosey and rinse it, huge sheets of rust falling off with just the hose. Whole cutter box (twin blades) is in, all the mechanism has freed and bearings not being touched at all.

Best process I ever came across, I was originally going to take the ride on mower to the tip, now it will be all done up like new
