Help please. What's the best/easiest way to fix a 45mm fuel cap to a 51mm tank?

I had the problem the other way with a 40 odd mm tank and a 50mm fuel cap. I had to get 2 short lengths of fuel filler hose. One kindly donated FOC by SPIDER off here and I had to buy a 12" length of the other stuff then I bought an aluminium reducer from CBS and stuck the hoses together that way.
