tiny allen key electric screw driver attachments

how easy is it to buy them? are they in halfords or homebase or something?

my mate gave me a really really nice sparco steering wheel, problem is its attached to a nova steering collumn i managed to get 3 of the allen bolts out the wheel/hub but 2 are stuck fast (been soaking for a week in 3in1 oil), and the 3rd one is all rounded out, but that should be easily sorted once i get the other 2 out.

they take a 3mm allen key, but the key just bends

e-bay, search for hex bits
or halfords will do them, possibly in a set though.

If you don't want the boss just drill the heads off and leave the rest in.

Easy to get in sets (screwfix for example) I've got some ikea sized ones (4mm?) which I bought from somewhere as singles - B&Q?

You can also get also get allen key sockets (like these linky which work well

^^^ I agree, a 4mm drill should see them out.

If you didnt want to do that can you hit the heads a bit to 'shake the treads'?

You may also be able to hammer in a torx bit for more bite.

Downward pressure is also your friend here, the more the merrier, allen keys do not exert any of this.

i ended up drilling them. i'd hoped the collumn may have been some good to someone on here, but i realised the boss the wheel is attached to is removeable.

cheers anyway guys!

mansfield, i managed some downward pressure, by turning with a pair of pliers, and pushing down with my hand, but all that did was twist my allen key

ah well, done now

anyone want a nova collumn?! (might be corse actually...)
