Mine are the same and also buggered

Just type the model into google and you can get replacements, but not that cheap.

my trust B&D has the same problem; I looked into getting replacements but it works out cheaper to buy a new drill!!!

maybe get a cheap £ 12 lidl drill and fit the new cells into the B&D would be the most cost effective.

The overlander cells are excellent for this, especially as you can get them pre-tabbed. Rebuilt one of my packs for just a few quid, it's lasted years.

the physical size of the cells
42mm tall
22m wide
if anyone can point me to the correct ones on the maplin site

42 x 23 is subC size - so any sub C will do the job, depends what type they are next and what capacity you want / your charger can cope with (should say on it) - could be nicd or nimh though in reality it won't make a great deal of difference as the charge characteristics for both is very similar.
