CO2 cylinders - public service announcement (for tightwads)
This information is particularly useful for those in the Glasgow area, but slightly useful for the rest of you too.
Here is the official Zil method of "how to get your hands on a cylinder of CO2 without having to nick a cylinder or ingratiating yourself
with a landlord and get it filled for under £250."
First - get hold of the Cylinder, that'll cost you £37.50 filled from here.

If you're local to them, they deliver it filled, if you're not local, it's delivered empty and they arrange filling locally.

Was in today and they quoted me £7 to fill a cylinder.
So, the cylinder has cost you £30 delivered. For that you pretty much get to keep it for as long as you want without thinking of all those rental fees
you're clocking up. Refills (which will probably be annual) will cost you £7.
There's probably a better way, but if you're like me and you're that tight that you squeak when you walk, then this is probably the
answer.
Note : - The cylinder description is as follows.
Refurbished 14lb carbon dioxide cylinders, pressure tested, new valve, painted in black, shoulder of the cylinder any colour, valve handle with
logo printed.
Doesn't seem that bad a deal to me.
If you already knew all of the above, achh - it was only five minutes of your time.

I did search for local sellers up here, but couldn't find any.
I know nothing of these things, maybe BOC have it wrapped up in these parts.. Haven't a clue.
Anyway- Cozzer's solution is even better.

Forgot to add I also picked up 88 pints of Fosters while I was there, all in a handy stainless barrel

My local brewery supplier used to sell them for about a tenner with no deposit ,expecting you to take it back when empty.Local people all found out
and used to get them and have them refilled by the local fire extinguisher company until the brewerys threatened them with legal action for theft of
cylinders.They now sell an extinguisher with a screwdown valve in place of the lever and charge about £10 to refill it.
I have been using some extinguishers I picked up cheap and just cable tying the lever down , a normal regulator screws in in place of the hose.
