Alu welding question ?

I have a set of gsxr Tb's

Question ; can a set of flanges be tig welded onto them to turn them into direct dcoe fit with out the throttle bodie distorting >

they run very close tolerances on the spindles.

the outcome would be like Davids set up but without the silicone hose and clips.

I dont think it would be possible. Aluminium distorts so much when welding it I think they would move too much...

If you have a scrap set or can get hold of some, then you could try it. Clamp it all to a big heatsink and give it a go.

I wouldnt like to say if the aluminium the TBs are made from is weldable or not either. The only way to find out is try it...

Can you not get hold of a set of the standard mounting flanges from the bike as they fit straight onto a weber manifold? Try contacting some of the bike breakers?

David

hi David.

the flanges arnt easy to get hold of for these for some reason.

they do fit the dcoe manifold but the the adapters are oval and the manifold round.

Still looking.

May just have a go at making up some stubs like yours.

cheers for the reply.
