Hope you've replaced the drawer bottoms, mine won't even hold the weight of my socks.

Not a bad idea, wooden tool chests tend to keep tools from rusting... Like said only worry is weight of tools, but the chest used in the link had
decent bottoms (i.e. wood not fiber board)... If your good a woodwork would make a nice project.

It's a great idea.
One problem, I think, is that the draws are too deep so you cannot use the whole space.
Putting ribs at half the draw depth and then using shallow trays will increase capacity.

It is one of those thing s that looks good but would be fairly crap to work with-draws too deep, jam with heavy stuff in tbh he'd have been
better knocking upa few shelves for the stuff he has in there!
Where does he keep his socket sets , taps n dies, breaker bars, files etc
If you read the replies on that site theyare mostly females who, without being sexist in anyway, probably don't need a heavy duty outfit.
We found a pine ches t of drawers when we moved into an old farm cottage - full of axes and mattocks, stripped it and used it for original purpose

I'm working on something very similar at the moment.
I have made it from scratch rather than adapting an old drawer unit.
I had some veneered panels left over from a job so thought i'd use them to make the cabinet. It has two deep drawers for drills, jigsaws etc.
But I am using ikea slide out trays for socket sets and spanners etc, as I agree that deep drawers would be a pain to work with.
It also has some small plastic drawers scewed to the side for screw drivers etc.
Also an attachment for a big kitchen roll for cleaning.
I'll stick a piccy up when it's done.
Steve.

my point i think is that i could build something cheaper and as good as the high dollar tool chests. This was just an idea.

Not looked at it in the tin, but a couple of these put together with decent castors might work as a base unit. Will have a look next time I'm
dragged in.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
