Bending ali tube
Want to bend some ali pipe for cooling tubes.
Is there any reason why I can't just use a bending spring, heat it up and bend away!!!??
Rich.

No reason that i can think of.
I normally grease the spring before use to make it easier to pull out, just make sure you pull a rag through the tube and wash it out with some
solvent/petrol and im sure it will be fine.

it might crease/wrinkle the inside, but since its not needing to have any stress through it (like wishbone tubes for example) then i can't see a
reason why not, except it might look a little funny on the inside of the bends

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

tape one end with duct tape, completely fill with dry sand add water tape the endand gently bend. there is something on youtube using this method. if
the pipe is small enough springs or a plumbers pipe bender
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

That's exactly what I was going to suggest
Otherwise is it possible to use a bending bar?

pack mine with sand and then anael the tube and burry it in sand to cool it very slowly. then pack the pipe tightly and then clamp it in that tool and
bend away.
I find the anaeling and how hard you pack the sand relates to if the pipe kinks or snaps like I have on a couple of occasions

You might think this is a really stupid thing to say at this point, but don't use your wheel hubs for this: you get creases. I had good luck
with my knee however. Live and learn and pass it on I always say...
