Metal Chop Saw Blade
I was in B&Q the other day and noticed the Evolution? circular saw blades that will supposedly cut anything. Thought about swapping out the wood
blade on my Makita 12" sliding saw with of these for cutting metal bar.
Anyone had any experience with these things, are they any good? If not would a metal cutting disc from a proper metal chop saw be any good or should I
just stick to cutting wood with it?

Metal Chop saws tend to run quite slowly whereas Wood saws run fast.
I'd of thought for cutting metal bar your makita would run too fast.

i use a wood chop saw with a 11"?cutting disc,works fine but the center holes seem to be different sizes to stop you doing such things
who cares who wins

I've got one , they use a tct blade that cuts anything. However when cutting steel lots and lots of very hot sparks, have gone back to my old
cut off saw.
However what they are good for is cutting bits of wood with nails in.

Ive got an evolution. Its a really good saw, but they are designed for multi purpose, so cutting metal, wood, plastic, laminate, or any other
material on a constant basis should be ok.
Not sure how long the blades will last cutting metal at such a high speed though. The trick is not to let it get too hot.

Keep your eyes open on lidl/aldi/netto's sites all of them do a £40 ish metal chop saw at least once a year. Mines given me 3+ years of
service.

my work shop use metal chop saws daily all day long. The blade moves really slow and has a liquid coolent flowing over it. Fast movement is not good
because the temperature increases. Keep the temp down and the blade will last longer. Also lots of pressure downwards so the teeth eat!
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Thanks guys. I like the Aldi option, there's one down the road & not in any rush so I'll just keep an eye out.
