Opinions on Neilsen crane

Hi

I've been looking for an engine crane for what seems like ages now and have found a Neilsen crane on ebay for £120.

Is this a reasonable make ? I can't seem to find anything about them on t'internet but I have a piston ring compressor and a valve spring compressor which both seem to work ok.

Any opinions on Neilsen and in particular the crane ?

thanks
Paul

Looks reasonable.

Do you need a 2 tonne one?

if it's just for a kit car then a lesser capacity one would be ok and might save you money.

Hi

I am sure a 1 ton one would be fine but they all seem to be quite expensive really when compared to some of the 2 tonne ones from the "wholesalers".

I've been trying to get one for a while now - for instance today a 1 ton one which was right near me went for £148 on ebay !!

I just can't get my head around paying nearly new for a second hand item even if it works just as well now as it did when it was new. Plus if its a way aways then by the time you've added on fuel for pickup it works out even more.

i think thats very good.

so good im tempted to buy one myself...

ETA: £160 for something youll probably never need to buy again is good investment in my opinion.

I've got one of these; folds up nicely out of the way into the corner of the garage when not in use...

It would be better looking at capacity than getting one to small.
We are on the lookout for one to do the p100

I borrowed one from our local garage, that was a 2 ton Nielsen, folded up and went in the back of my tin top. Worked fine, lifted my 24v Cosworth no problem. HTH Ray

I had one that looked like the Neilsen one. The castors raised the legs too high so i always struggled to get the legs under the wishbones. I'd be tempted to go for this one instead - and its only £10 dearer once postage taken into account
