Ultrasonic Cleaner

Spotted this in Aldi going special this Thursday.

Small capacity but has anyone any experience of these things?

I think they can be quite good for removing carbon and such, but having said that we used to have one at work and it was never used...carbon remover was thought to be better

I've got an ultra sonic cleaner and it is very good. Perfect for hard to reach areas, fiddly items and fasteners, and injectors. Mines aot bigger though, in the order or around 10 litres i think, and it's not that big. The one n the above link wouldn't be much use. I also leave mine on for hours, not 3 minutes, and it's got a heater. It cost alot more though.

Personnaly i'd say the aldi item is a waste of time, but for the price it'd do as a means to soak dirty parts, and the ultra sound can only help.

hmmm I alway assumed stabbing one with a pin would be sore (not that I've done that)

na just wondering if it would harm it or just give it blurred vision, probably be deafeningly loud to it though

My mum has a tiny one designed for denture cleaning that she uses to clean the nib of a very expensive fountain pen she has. Seems to work ok but obviously only good for small sized things. Might try doing my injectors in it!

I would say that if you can't fit a weber 45 DCOE in it then it's not going to be a huge amount of good.

i don't think anything would happen to the fish, aslong as it wasn't touching the vibrating surface. I put my hand into one regularly, and not sure if it quite the same but toothbrushes come with ultrsonic capabilities. Can't be that dangerous, afterall its just vibrating water.
As to fish feeling pain from a pin? I hope they don't or every time I go fishing I've been very cruel.

What kind do you use, mine doesn't hurt, but you sure can feel it stinging a bit. I'd be kinda pointless if the water didn't vibrate.
The problem with the goldfish would be that there heads are submerged. I'm guessing fish have some kind of sound or frequency sensing abilities.

That model is on 'the bay' for £32-£39 delivered, so a good price.
Brilliant for cleaning your specs - if you wear them - and small components.
Just my tuppence worth.

Digging up an old thread but if you want decent cleaning abilities you want decent input power - industrial units used for actually cleaning stuff are 100s of watts ultrasonic power, some of the little ones are milliwatts and don't clean for toffee.

Incidentally fish do feel pain, bit of an old wives tale that they don't, presumably to help anglers consciences recently debunked by a reasearcher somewhere.
