Tig welding gas bottle

Just bought a Clarke tig welder and I was wondering the best way to obtain a gas bottle and argon gas. I checked with a local supplier and was suprised how expensive it was to hire a bottle over £100 per year. Can they be bought outright and refilled? Wondered what you guys do.

energas will do you a big bottle of argon for £50 with no rental.

your nearest one is Sheffield which has to be worth the 30mile drive through the peak district

Energas don't do rent free, my cylinder costs £57 a year from them.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

They're in Margate. Kent. They were in business a year ago, when I got my Argon. Total cost about £85, of which £40 or £45 was the refundable deposit on the cylinder. They will deliver - but it can work out expensive.

The cylinder is fractionally smaller than a standard pub CO2 one.

I'll have to get in and see them, my Direct Debit comes out every August. I collect a bottle from the Derby branch, how much are your refills ?
