Rivnut help ! (broken part)
Hello all,
This evening i have been finishing the last bits of paneling of the GTR, when just a couple of Rivnuts from the end i slipped and sheered of the
threaded section of my 'rivnut tool' !
(note to self - get off your arse and move instead of trying to over reach yourself !)
I have only been using rivnuts on the small front and rear sections of the underpan to make then detachable, and its the last little bit that needs to
be done before turning the chassis over again..
Does anyone know where i can get a new rivnut gun tomorrow in beds/herts ?. Or, does anyone know anyone who sell's just the threaded inserts for
the gun (its the M5 one that i have broke).
Thanks
Tris

Are the inserts all universal ?
If so I have a M5 one that you can borrow - Am in Cranfield so only 5 minutes up the road.
MK Indy - 2litre Duratec - Omex 600 - Jenvey throttle bodies - ETB DigiDash2

When I sheared mine of I spun the mandrel in the lathe and taped it out.
I then just threaded in a bolt and cut the head of.
works better than before and that was m4.

I did worse than that, I put a rivnut on the inside of the transmission tunnel then had to saw the bit off the tool to get the tool out. Rivnut went
in easily, but didn't have enough room to remove the tool.

I rang Laser Tools (budget tool manufacturer), and they put 3 new mandrels in the post to me FOC. Very good customer service...! Mine was the M5 too!

Think I did the same, very quick sevice no quibles, but perhaps not a truely quick fix
