Air drills - difference betwixt 3/8'' and 1/2''

Hi

Just looking at some air drills and after some advice please.

Machinemart list 3/8'' and 1/2'' air drills - could understand it for impact wrench or air wrench but what does this sizing mean for drills ?

thanks

There could be a speed difference as well.

Air drills I've used in the past with big chucks ran slower, 500 rpm (ish)

The smaller ones ran at 1500 or 2000 rpm.

Just a thought.

Yes according to the catalogue, the 1/2'' is 1800 rpm and 3/8'' is 2200 rpm.

I thought slower was ok as it would be predominantly for metal ?

Thanks for info.

Reckon I'll go to the store and have a look rather than getting straight off internet - least I know a bit more now.

Thanks everyone as always.

For general use 10mm drill will do you and for the odd times you need a 12mm drill bit get one turned down to fit in a 10mm chuck
