Plasma Cutter - Usage

couple of a numpty questions about plasma cutters...
please excuse my stupidity but do they only cut clean metal.

converting a bus to a race truck and need to cut out the rear subframe area..
2" x 1" 3mm box mostly.

would a plasma do this or would i be better with oxy/aceyetylne

Don't see the point in spending large money just to cut off a chassis section!

I have a cut 40 and its pretty good and a lot less hassle than an oxy torch.
