Group Buy Plasma Cutters-Calvinx

The mention of the Calvinx on the RRR thread prompted me to post some genuinely good news Ive had this last week.

I have a plasma cutter from the group buy a couple of year ago. I have always had problems with it and as such used it very infrequently, last monday it finally gave up the ghost. Blowing air and not much else.

I naturally thought with it being an eastern import that it was now a very expensive door stop. I did some looking around and caught a lead that there was a company repairing the cut40 ebay specials. Unfotunately this company had dissappeared, MCS i think.

Someone mentioned they had set up as Plasmapart. I gave them a call and chatted with their repairs chap. He said that there was a 90% chance it could be repaired and in the event of it being junk there would be no charge save for the carriage.

I packed it up and on Wednesday at about 4pm, ups collected it from my house, I recieved the plasma cutter back on Friday morning packaged unbelievably well in full working order!!

The cost was £99 including carriage. I know that it was probably just a failed diode or something but I am happy with the price and service from these guys and it meant I didn't have to risk getting thrown across the room or killed trying to fix it myself.

If anyone has plasma cutter from the group buy or ebay, good news is that there is support at Plasmapart
