Workshop lighting
This has doubtless been asked before but a search says 'no matches found'
I am equipping a new workshop and am at the point where I need to choose the lighting. The workshop is around 550 square feet with a 9 foot high false
ceiling. I do some close up assembly work on the benches and dismantling/fitting of shocks to cars and bikes in the central area. Around a third of
the workshop is taken up with 6 foot high shelving carrying my parts stock.
Flourescent tubes. Standard or HF. What colour light? Any other options or ideas?
The lathe is equipped with its own lighting so no strobe effect problems.
All advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

I would choose T5 HF flourescents. That way, you are more efficient, avoid stroboscopic effects, and can get the modern 'daylight' tubes
that are available. 3m is probably the limit in terms of height though, so you might need to consider adding an additional one to get the lux levels
that are comfortable for assembly work.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Hi
when you say false ceiling , do you mean suspended ceiling
with a lay in grid 1200X600 squares or 600X600 ?
Or MF ceiling ,plasterboard ?
René.

MakeEverything. Thanks for the advice. Duly noted.
jossey. Thanks for that link. I was sure I'd seen a recent discussion.
René. Its a suspended ceiling. 600X600 'tiles' . Don't know what they're called. Getting that up will be a laugh..

I got these (2 of)
2 x 49w T5 NON CORROSIVE IP65 WEATHERPROOF FITTING COMPLETE | eBay
only one wired up so far, but the light is of good quality and throws of a decent light, the light the tubes provide are white rather than yellow.
But I would buy them again with no issues.
