Torque figure for M10 x 1.25 bolts
I am rebuilding a gearbox (FWD vauxhall) and have just bolted the Crownwheel to the diff carrier. I found a torque value in an old haynes for a
different car but same size bolts, which was 85 NM. I tightened the crownwheel bolts to this torque but they just don't seem tight enough at
that. In the end I did them by feel and checked with the torque wrench and they ended up at 100Nm.
Anybody got a max torque figure for M10 x 1.25, grade 12.9 bolts????

i've got a mk2 astra manual I can look it up in if it'll be in there. (I think i've got a mk1 manual somewhere too but that might
take some time to find)

Save you looking, I'm ok now.
Old Haynes was right (for once!) the std torque figs for these bolts are 83-87Nm.
I also now have THE most useful book known to automotive mankind, the Bosch Automotive Handbook. In there I found a calculation for max and min
tightening torque for bolts and using this it also came out as 87Nm, so old bolts are in the bin and another set have gone in to this figure (with
plenty of loctite)

not usually, normally race at M+L (melton and leicester club track) (www.mandlraceway.co.uk)
BUT..........I am camping at Evesham's track this weekend for the MAP open!!!!
(712 car entry last year!!)
