Cost of CNC Machining
Evenin' all!
I'm thinking of getting my own paddle shift CNC'd up - does anyone have an idea of how much it'd cost to get this done (obviously it
depends on the design simplicity).
There'd be the paddle, some form of collar for the steering wheel and a bell crank to make up.

Depending upon the material used, design and batch size, I'd say approx. £100 plus materials for a non-anodised production run.
For 10 or more you should be able to negotiate a little.

I've used these people before
http://www.laser-eng.com/
way cheaper than anyone else.
Minimum cost is, I think, £35 quid but I got 20 tabbed washers (For my headlight supports) and 10 trigger wheels made for that!!!
I just sent them a DXF drawing and asked them how much.....

For CNC machining, I got quoted £65/hour for machine time plus material.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Expensive? I don't think so. How much does one of these machines cost?

exactly! the buying costs, the running costs, the maintainance cost, tool costs and training to run a CNC are huge, although in the area of work I
work in, we charge £90 a hour for the machine work and £70 an hour for the drawing side of things, even with this the cost of making the things we
make nearly always come out cheaper than if we had made them by hand and obviously the quality is ALOT higher!
(this is plastic and wood we work with before I get 100's of inquiries from you guys!!!!)
