painting brake calipers
hi everyone following the succesfull purchase of my donor car  i have started to take bits of and derust them, im happy to use hammerite silver
smooth on most other stuff, but not my brake calipers, becuase i would like them to be red or black or some other colour i havent decided yet. so that
means im looking for a metal primer that can be painted on less than perfect metal (lil rusty) that withstands high temperatures and can be painted
over with that caliper laquer stuff... got any ideas? ive heard por-15 needs to go on super well prepped surfaces?

Standard 2pk caliper paint comes in a kit and is available from just about any auto factors.
Cheaaper alternative is caliper enamel which takes ages to go off but still works.
Both paint direct to the metal and the 2pk kit comes with a cleaner.Image deleted by owner

these are the..... things .... lol that are part of the calipers but dunno what they are atm, before....
and after....
interest point, what are they/what are they called

They are the slides off single-sided calipers. They carry the pad on the opposite side of the disk from the piston(s).

Caliper mounting brackets. Looks as if someone has done a lot of hard work getting them clean? Check out the electolysis thread to make life easier

yep cleaned up like you have there and painted they should last for years to come.
This is the sort of thing I mean

awesome thanks for the help, and yeh it took me about 3 hours or more to do that one :| with a dremel lol i was looking at that electrolysis thing ill
try it on tother one! proper badly rusted tho there was easy to get off surface rust and then this blackish metally stuff that looked a little shiny
but when i ground it off it went all red! and that stuff was THICK! does the leccy treatment remove that crap as well?
