tube notcher

Ive been looking at tube nothcher, specifically the chester tools.

Has anyone got/used one of these in small diameter tube, and if not, how did you notch the tubes in your project?

Cheers

1" tube, couple of small V's with hacksaw and decent file.

Tried a hole saw in my piller drill and bent the morse taper when it bit hard as you end up cutting on one edge, if you get something make sure its really robust.

Also had a go with my plasma cutter, its just so easy with a hacksaw, file and vice I would not could not be bothered with this.

By hand keeps you more in touch with the build also.

Roll cage is angry grinder.

that looks good, and it can do offset cuts which the one I was looking at cant. Can you adjust it for tubes which intersect at an angle?

yeah it does, the drill spindle mounting block rotates on a pivot directly underneath the centre line of the tube you can see the pivot in the pic

three is a program that will print onto paper a template that you then wrap round the tube , and cut accordingly.

do search on here - it has been posted before.

A few sites have it. Here's one.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
