pinto cambelt tension measuring tool
afternoon everyone,
I have been in the garage this afternoon fitting a new cambelt to my pinto after its rebuild and have come across a stumbling block,
the haynes manual says that i need a special 'Ford' tool that measures the cambelt tension, obviously so that the cambelt is the right
tension when fitting is complete. it says that the values on the tension meter for a new belt should be between 10-11, 10-11 what? is this just a
universal scale that the meters use?
where can i get this tool from or does anyone have one i can borrow for the day?

I have never used this kind of tool, but I do this check:
On the longest "pulling" side (side where the camshaft is pulled by the crankshaft), take the cambelt in the middle between thumb and
index finger. Without too much effort you should be able to twist the cambelt by 90° (no more, no less).
Hope you understand my description...
Edit:
But first spin the crankshaft a couple of turns by hand so the cambelt can settle a bit.

yeah thats what it says to do in the haynes manual, but then says at the first available oppotunity take the car to a ford dealer to get the cambelt
tension checked and corrected if necessary

NO need the 90 deg test is good enough.
