I think people must be mad to make DIY versions of specialist workshop equipment like this. It looks well professional but IMHO it would be better to
buy one and go ahead making other more useful things (like a locost for eg).
My grandad used to have a washing machine motor bolted to his garage wall with a grinding disc bolted to the spindle. No tool rests or guards!! For
some reason he never let any of us in his garage when we were little.
