Helicoil Questions
1. Is there a helicoil for M14 x 2.0 thread?
2. What size hole and thread needs to be tapped for M14 x 2.0 helicoil insert?
3. Is usiing a helicoil in a track rod end a sound idea? (I'm reckoning that since they are used for cylinder heads that are tightened to many
lb/ft they should be ok).

When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

Helicoil's and recoil are made for available for most threads. but don't mix the inserts they don't seem to be a 100% compatible in
my experience.
You get the correct tap's in the set's though I'm not sure what the actual thread is. Normally a 6mm helicoil fit's a 6mm
hole, an 8mm helicoil 8mm hole etc etc.
I don't think I'd fancy a helicoiled track rod end, you only have one chance of failure

Ray
depends on the track rods; the problem with that idea is there probably won't be enough metal in the trck rod when it is drilled to take the
helicoil.
