Which Compressor?
Hi all I'm looking at investing in a compressor for painting my car. Is this one any good?

nearly at the bottom of the page priced at £65.84
if not what do i need to look for in a compressor?
P.S. I know this one will need a water trap before spraying

You would struggle to spray with that compressor, just not big enough.
Ideally aim for something that can do about 14cfm with at least a 100lt tank, and if you can afford it, get one with a belt drive rather than a direct
drive.

I think you need to pay twice as much particularly if you want to use it after the painting. The problem is it will be on constantly and you will only
get a peak of pressure followed by a steady decline. With a large tank and compressor you get a more constant flow.

that link doesnt even have the cfm or rpm which isnt very helpful.... it definately looks too small to paint the whole car, and do a good job of it.
spraying doesnt need 14cfm, mines i think about 7-8 and sprays flawlessly, although its 200l, so has a lot of reserves to go on. mine cost me £16 from
ebay (v. badly listed) and runs pretty much silently compared to newer ones ive used. its pretty old, but doesnt skip a beat and i havent had any
problems with it. if i were you, id scour ebay for older ones, theyre build very well (typically), so will go on for quite a long time. get one thats
close to you, mine took 4 people to lift onto an estima, so postage isnt an option. youll find a much better spec than most youll find new for about
£150 on ebay- thats double the price of the linked one, but you can then resell it when you've done your car.

170 litres per minute is almost exactly 6 cfm
