Welding Stainless
A bit of advice before I decide how to proceed with my exhaust.
1) Is it possible to weld stainless to mild steel. I ask as I can get a mild stell flange but pipe bends seem easier to source in stainless.
20 If I go the whole lot in stainless, what do I need to weld it, is it just a different wire in the mig from mild steel with a similar technique.
Thanks,
Steve

Yes stainless can be welded to mild steel and in fact the exhaust flanges on my manifold are mild steel so no problem

as john says, yes you can weld the two together, best to use stainless wire but mild will work too.
There are all sorts of further details to that statement, but for an exhaust the only one to point out is that the welds will rust slightly, and the
flanges will obviously rust too, so best given a quick splash of VHT paint over the flanges and welds at the flange.
