chunky clamp for use with MIG welder

ok, so the clamps supplied with Clarke welders are pretty poxy - I can feel the handle get warm where the wires are crimped (the crimp is fine) so who sells a chunkier clamp ?

yeah, should have looked on ebay.

so how do you attach wire to it? looks like the bolt should hold wire to clamp but the wahsers look quite small - unless the is a crimp connector you are menat to fit onto the wire.

I wonder if I can tonk up something similar at home with some old copper pipe......?

Go to the local tool merchants; not Ebay.

These things are dirt cheap and one should always check them first, and you will get a more compact one which will still be able to carry the current..

The cheap ones on Ebay are too tight and take two hands to open!!

I got mine from the local BOC shop - not expensive, and come in various sizes.

cheap mole grips work for me, just weld a bolt to the edge, and a couple of nuts to hold the eyelet of the wire . Also can hold pieces as well.

Cheers
