Tig Welding

Hi All,

Just bought a tig and need to know a few basics if possible.

What's the reason to let gas start before weld and end longer after a weld?

Do you bush the torch towards welding area or face area already welded?

Do you treat the torch like gas on butt welds and overlap? eg. directon of heat?

Please if I can have all your tips and advise that you were offered when starting too please that would be great.

Thanks

Jonah

GAS

Pre gas is to get a shield of gas before arc to stop perosity and post gas is to let the pool of molten metal to cool so that gas shield is still present, also slop in and out, slop in ,is increase in power to the set amps and slop out is decrease from set amps to cut out point.Slop out is to stop small holes appearing when finishing a run. hope this helps.

Pre gas also helps the arc to start.
And Practice Practice Practice.
I used to practice for 3 hours a day but be aware you will go though gas like no tomorrow.
