Electric Drill Sharpner

Bought one of the Plasplug electric drill sharpening kits yesterday, and to my surprise it actually works! I've got so many blunt HSS drill bits and I'm fed up of throwing them away and buying another £15 set, now I don't have to!

This is the one, bought it at a local tool shop for £35 ... does chisels, knifes etc as well....

Ive got one of those but find it takes too long to set up. Quicker to dress them up by hand if you know how. I was lucky in that i was taught as an apprentice and allowed to practice on their drills first.

It just takes practice...

Look for a video of it on youtube or something...See how its done...

Start with the biggest drill you have...

After a few hours practice I can now sharpen 1mm drills....Just watch your fingers and make sure you keep the drill COOL!

I really have tried doing this by hand, and I'm just no good at it .... so for me it was £34 well spent

I'm thinking of buying one for myself too, I've always done it myself on the benchgrinder, never had a problem with it but now when I put one I sharpend myself on the lathe in the drill head to drill a center hole, I always encounter angles not being grind true so only one of the cutting endges actually cuts..... instead of the all, result is that the hole varies in diameter from level to the deeper end....
when I take a new drill it's straight for at least 7cm.

the little machienes do both sides the same which should solve that problem.
