looking at the pics its run by a electric drill so my guess is its a screw bar running it. almost like cutting a scissor jack in half and lying it in the floor.

yeah ive seen something similar, all it is , is a jumbo scissor jack, powered by an a electric drill

The angle of that motor doesn't look the safest of things to me in one of the pics...

They do look handy but i dont think i would trust it at this angle

Works like a sissor jack but I would not like to get under it without axle stands thats for sure

I have to say that my leccy hoist and 4 axle stands works far better for me.

It lifts the end of each car easily and it's not exactly tricky to stick the stands in afterwards.
