Compressor and tools
Want to get myself an air compressor and tools and spotted this in the local paper. Is anyone familiar with these and is it a good deal?

Can't comment on the quality.
But to me that seems like a real bargain
I paid £125 just for a compressor.

I've got one of those (except mine is branded Hobby Craft but it's exactly the same, usual Chinese mass-produced multi-label stuff).
Mine didn't come with the power-tools (did come with the spray gun etc) but I bought them seperately.
Nice compressor. Noisy (aren't they all!!!), haven't used the bits it came with apart from the tyre inflator.
Does the job for me.... Power tools didn't work to begin (ie no grunt) with but some lub'ing and use has seen them get much better.
I'm sure I'll eventually want to get a bigger / better one eventually but so far for tintop / Locost stuff it's been great!

Ive only had experince with the wolf gennys (little £80 2-stoke jobies) and i would agree witht that.
- Theyre not nice products and they noisy, but they do work.
- Untimatly they will fail before a good product, but for occational/light use they work find.

Neil I bought one from aldi last time they were on, Very similar to the one you looking at but did not include the drill ratchet or chisel. cost from
memory was around 60 squids. Your welcome to come over and have a look see anytime. The one your looking at all in seems not a bad price. IMHO
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

From personal experience if you are going to use the air drill then get one with a much bigger receiver.
When drilling it saps the air like you wouldnt believe and you'll soon get fed up of the thing thrashing away in the corner while you wait for
enough pressure to drill part of a hole.
i was lucky managed to pick up a repaired 200 ltr upright compressor for £200 ish quid. The drill and other bits can be bought from aldi when they do
them which is quite often. They are suitable for occasional use but if you are going to use them lots then go for quality.
Direct drive compressors are always noisy and oil free ones more so. According to the bloke I bought my big one from, who repairs em for sealey, oil
free ones have a washer and bearing arrangement the will break down over time so you would be better going for one that needs oil.

9 cfm will run most tools but if you need to use an air file you'l need 12 cfm , best bet is to check the requirment of the tools you want
before you buy the compressor and buy to suit!

Its the same as the Aldi one which came with spraygun, parafin gun, blow off gun, tyre inflator and airbrush for 60 ish squids, as said above. Ive got
one and for a bit of spraying they are OK but pretty useless for airtools.
They are very noisy, louder in fact than my 14 CFM big compressor.

3rds on the same as aldi one, seem to remember they had a decent guarantee.
I bought an air racthet and saw with mine, another £30 on the £60 price of the compressor.
All seems to work, air tools soon run out of puff.
Reasonable value with the tools.

as said previously but in a long winded way (sorry no pun intended) dont buy it just cos its cheap.
Save up and get on with a decent sized receiver. personally I would suggest 50 Ltrs min. I still have the 24Ltr wolf air one I bought but god am i
glad I bought "The Big 'Un"
Or invest in some decent earplugs if its going to sit in your garage.

The noise of mine discourages too much use.
Having said that, occasional use of the impact driver has proven quite invaluable.
I am told that larger bore hose makes quite the difference though, and I haven't done that yet.
