Aargh! MIG welding tribulations...
It's amazing how quickly you forget how to weld...
Had to repair my front nearside wing stay (AGAIN!) so decided to use my MIG... only a 2 minutes welding job, but needed 30 minutes trying to set the
wire speed and voltage correctly before I started!!!
Ended up with a respectable set of welds, but you ought to see the pigeon poo on the bit of metal I used for practice...

No - didn't go!
It happened yesterday, shortly after leaving RAF Lakenheath. Fortunately, when the stay goes, the wing bounces around on the remaining one long
enough for me to spot it.
My wife wasn't too pleased about having the wing and stays on her lap for the 40-odd mile journey home!

We followed a yellow Quantum through Stoneleigh village on the Sunday, lost his offside wing just as he was on the way out. Not just MK's that
lose wings then?

I'll not bother even trying to fit one on my MK then.
Finally back on the job!

Made my wing stays from a length of conduit with a bender ( a conduit bender not a gay bloke).
Strong enough to sit on with no ill effects and I'm a big lad.
I agree about mig welding its very much like plastering when the time rolls round to do it again you've forgotten the technique.
Cheers,
Bob
