Air compressors

Does anyone know much about them? Im after something i can use in the garage for basic air tools, occasional paint spraying and then hopefully use for my mobile servicing business next year (if i ever get round to it).

Im not sure what size, power etc to go for.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

It doesnt need to be a petrol/diesel one for mobile as my parents need to get a generator but will have no use for it by then.

Put a pulley on the back wheel another belt and a seat and you can be truly mobile with that.

I have a direct drive 3hp one, its okay but not great.

You can spray, but need to pause for each panel, infact anything that needs constant air kills it.

Works air guns okay as quick fire useage but the feed pipes are small diameter so not as powerful as they should be.

I would say based upon this at least 5hp really.
Regards Mark
