whats the best masking tape?

going to have a practise doing a paint job on an RC boat i bought a few months ago
whats the best masking tape to use? will the normal sort of stuff you can buy from homebase be ok? or will that pull the paint off from underneath when its taken off again?
are they all much he same?

Try and get a proper tape from a paint supplies firm. It comes off easier, doesnt rip as easy as the normal stuff, and doesnt leave the glue behind once its got warm.

You can get low tack masking tape but I think there is proper stuff that gives cleaner lines, but don't know what it called sorry.

It seems to be called detailing tape like this 25mm x 50m 3M Scotch Blue 3434 Masking Tape on eBay (end time 18-Jan-11 09:07:16 GMT)

The green in colour masking tape from 3m is the best

there is some new tape on sale now at focus called frog tape.and yes it is green supposed to be good for paint.

This is the best tape IMO: LINK

Especially for model use, it cuts very well and can take intricate patterns in it with no bleed when properly applied.




EDIT: Comes in all different widths too

think theres a paint place in greenock selling car paints, will see if they're open today and see what they have
