8mm tapered bolt ?
A friend has asked if i can make an 8mm-10mm tapered threaded bar of 50 mm long
it needs to be normal 1.5mm pitch
god knows why, but i said yes, i would have a go
now i think, err were do i start !!!

so you want to make a 50mm long threaded bar , but do you want it 6mm, 8mm or 10mm thread ?
you seem to quote all 3 in your post ??

I actually want it tapered from 8- 10 mm
for some reason (fosters!) i put 6mm in the header !

Turn the taper then cut the thread.
Of course if you ain't got a lathe, you is knackered.
Then again you could pay Flak to do it. Sorted.

You'll need to mount it between centres with the tailstock offset. Drive the other end off a dog and cut the taper and follow it with a thread
tool.

If it was really important I could do that for you. I have a CNC lathe. That said...what an effort. Taper threads are usually very short - why so
long?
