Grinding welds
I have been filling up the old rivet holes in the chassis and now I need to grind them down. I have a 80 grit flap wheel but its a bit rough, is there
something else I can use?

B&D Powerfile. Various grades of belt available from Screwfix etc. Shop around for best price - varies wildly!

Flap disc in the angry grinder. Go nice and gentle and you can polish steel.

+1 for the angry flap disc.. Gives a mirror like shine to the roughest of steels

Sections sliced with thin cutting disc using paper template so took about 20 minutes. Setting up, tacking then MIG welding took about an hour and
about 10 minutes to whiz over it with the flappy disc.

Just make sure you thoroughly clean the metal swarf otherwise on day it will flash over and die - did on me
Angry Grinders seem to be better designed to handle the dust - the powerfile seemed to suck it in through the drive sprocket.

I use a flexible backing disc with 80 grit fibre disc on the grinder, it works out a lot cheaper than flap discs if you are doing enough and you can
get discs in any grade.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Did you leave the dust collector on, b&d recommneded 20 years ago that if using on metal, just to leave the back open without the collector.
Broken dozens of them meself. Make sure if you wear out the arm (bearings in wheel go) that you hang onto it, and when grinder dies under warranty,
send arm back to get replaced too.

Try one of the combined sanding and polishing discs. You should be able to get to a near miror finish.
