I'd rip his arm off!
I paid £250 for mine and it's probably pre WW2 - and looks it - and that was off a mate.

they can go for silly money, but if you can get one with power traverse and a T slot cross slide you will have one that is much better. Also with a full set of back gears you can thread cut too,...

That would be a very good starters lathe,.. so I guess it depends what you want to achieve,...

any questions on boxfords, feel free to send me a U2U.

TBH the paint job would turn me off, no idea what condition it was in before it was painted.

The paint job looks very poor which would make me think it has been faked up to re-sell as opposed to having been restored properly.

Maybe it's just the photo but the bedways look rusty.

There are no change wheels for screw cutting

It doesn't have a quick change tool post as advertised.

Cheers
Davie

I had a Viceroy lathe which was made by Boxford but the up market version with a power cross feed and a thread cutting gearbox.

I sold it on ebay 5 years ago for £750 ... and seriously regretted it ever since.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
