New Mig Torch?
Hi guys,
My 200amp Mig is playing up, when i arc the welder the gas is cotinuing to flow out and does not cut off so its is using alot of extra gas.
Ive dismantled the Torch and had a look but i cant see anything wrong with it..
Is it more simple to order a full new torch and lead? or can a new torch be wired in alone cheaper?
Are the torches Amp Rated? and can anyone suggest a torch which has good feel and a nice positive button.
Also do most have the same connection into the machine?

if gas continues to flow after releasing the trigger to stop welding, then the problem isn't with the torch. it is something inside the machine,
quite possibly the gas solenoid valve

On my welder the valve is actually inside the torch, the pipe goes straight down the sleeve, through the machine and out to the gas tank.
There's nothing actually in the machine that could affect the gas flow.
And the only reason I know that is.... mine does exactly the same thing!! Once I get bored with gasless welding I will probably have to get another
torch.

The most desirable torch type is the 'Euro torch' with the connector shown in picture. They come in different sizes (typically MB15) and
are interchangeable, lots of people make them and the parts are pretty universal too. There are kits available to convert the various
'odd' torch variants into a euro torch.
I converted mine because it had a wanky in-torch gas valve. It cost a bomb to replace and was tricky to get liners and tips and nozzles and things
for.
So glad I changed it because the quality of the torch is so much better.

You'd need an MB25 for a 200 Amp at full chat by the way
