o-rings suddenly now oversized or bigger??
Having just dismantled my cars, to get the to bottom of some flodding issues, I have gobe to put them all back together. was going to put the rubbers
back on when I noticed that the o-rings around the trumpets seem to have got larger, ie they now do not sit in their respective grove.
what is going on, never seen anytihng like this before.
any help?

I've had that issue before on different parts. I think they swell with age (a bit like my belly!) I recently had that issue with a manifold on a
boat engine and just cut a small amount of the O-ring out and super-glued the ends. It worked fine.
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

Yes they swell quite often a buggeration problem I encounter on the fuel pump housing of cars with in-tank pumps anf filter.
The cheat is wash the O ring in warm soapy water (use hand soap not detergent) and allow it to air dry in a warm place this works in most case.

The swelling means the material is wrong. They shouldn't, and will not work as well if swollen (the o ring could be damaged when it's
pushed into the groove).

Even Viton O rings used to seal the pressure regulators in fuel injection rails swell to the extent they are difficult to re-fit but a gentle water
wash and a few hours to dry works wonders.

could always replace them for the few pence they cost...
I just replaced mine on my bike carbs as it was leaking fuel from the inlet pipes.
Understeer , when the front hits a wall
Oversteer, when the back hits a wall
Horsepower ,how fast you hit the wall
Torque ,how far you take the wall with you
