Refurbishing Spun Ali Rims...
I've picked up a set of R500 mag wheels. The centres are off to Barnby's for crack testing and refinishing.
The ali rims are pretty manky and I reckon polishing them would be a thankless task!
So how about blasting, taping up the mating surfaces and powder coat?

I was in the same boat. I did exactly what you describe.

I've never checked but is it that dear to get the rims polished? It would take about 15 minutes per side using a puccka pillar mounted polisher
saay £30 a wheel and IMHO would look much better than powder coating.
Cheers!
You'd be surprised how quickly the sales people at B&Q try and assist you after ignoring you for the past 15 minutes when you try and start a

you'll need high-temp tape for powdercoating, the baking is 200 degrees C.
Think it's a silicon or similar rubber based tape you can get for it

I have a mate who powdercoats, so was going to take the easy option if it was viable. My only concern is he tends to do industrial stuff and his
blast media may be a bit too much for spun ali.
