Compressed air filters
As I continue to fit out my workshop I'm now looking at compressed air filters. Doing research some people (on YouTube etc) seem to go to
extraordinary lengths to get clean dry air for painting. Can I take it from this that the filters available from tool shops for around the £25 - £30
mark are not effective. What's your experiences please.

Are you not confusing air filters with moisture/water traps? The cheap £15-30 items will do the job well enough if you have enough of them and
position them correctly in your system. I have a £15 water trap on the end of the compressor tank which catches the worst of it and needs emptying
once a day if painting, the line then runs up the wall to another twin set of £30 water traps the second of which has silicone moisture beads the type
you get in the small bags (that needs keeping an eye on so it does'nt turn to mush) then runs down the wall to a manifold where it splits for
pressure regulators for main line and mask air feed. I will at this point say that my air fed mask is used to direct paint vapour away from a 3M face
mask under it and is not used as a direct feed due to the silicone beads. The spray gun then has it's own mini filter and pressure gauge and the
mask has a carbon filter pack. As long as you drain the compressor tank often and keep the others clean I've never had any problems with it.
