Lathe
A friend is clearing a house and has asked me if I could find a home for a Lathe. Unfortunately I haven't got room for it!
It's an American Rivett 608C 40 inch bed, 8 1/2 swing, quick change back geared, 3 phase 220v machine. It hasn't been used for years.
I haven't seen it but it's said to be in good condition with loads of tooling.
Is anyone on here interested?
Does anyone have an idea what it's worth?

Lathes are fetching decent money just lately, even older ones. "Lathes.co.uk " is a useful resource and probably the best place to sell
the lathe. There's an article about Rivett that mentions the 608. Post a pic, including tooling if you can, it will help to assess value.

There’s a “Lathes and machine tools page” and an active “Drummond and Myford owners” page and “Engineering buy and sell” and “ Engineering workshop
equipment and tools” pages if you ask on there someone will have a good idea

Thanks guys
My mate has spoken to Tony Griffiths of Lathes.co who was very helpful.
Depending on condition and what's included it could be worth between 1 and 3K.
Once he's got things organised it will be up for sale there.
Much much better than taking a risk on eBay and should help a little with the widow's finances.
