Alternator needs cleaning
Hi, don't know if this is the correct section, but here it goes:
I get a nice and small suzuki alternator but it's very very dirty, is there an easy way of cleaning it? I try to disassemble it but I
don't feel very comfortable removing the coils. I think using water is not a good idea.

Not sure how practical it would be with a car alternator, but when racing r/c cars, I used special in an areosol motor cleaner (basical just a
solvent).
to clean the motors you could either strip the motor and get round it with the solvent and kitchen towl, or just spray the solvent through one of the
slots in the motor and flush the dirt out. When it stoped running dirty and started running clear it was done. After flushing best practice was to let
the motor stand for an hour or 2 in a vetalated area (not always done, when you needed the motor for the next race in 5 minuets).

TRY USEING BRAKE CLEANER OR CARB CLEANER !
as both of these will disolve !
and in a minute or so nothing there
also if you have an air line when you have sprayed it blow it off with the air
i do it at work all the time
works a treat

no !
i use it on all alternators, and alot of jap stuff have tricky stuff in them now and not had any probs!
BUT I WILL SAY THIS
only do it at your own risk !!!
