Probably not. You need a minimum of 8cfm for spray painting. That figure was given to me years ago so, with changes to gun technology, you'd
probably need a lot more these days, especially using HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) guns.
I haven't painted a car for 8 or 9 years but I used a 12cfm on the last, which worked fine.

My 7/8cfm compressor sprays easily, it does run constantly, but the pressure remains steady.
Obviously a higher rate compressor wouldnt have to work as hard, but it depends what you want.
The amount of air used depends entirely on the size of the nozzle on the spray gun. I have used 1.2 and 1.5mm nozzles on my compressor and it keeps up
just fine. However I would say 1.5mm is getting toward being on the small side for spraying a whole car...

Your original choice would run a spraygun to paint panels individually. I would be tempted to ask if the 4hp motor will run from a domestic supply, it
sounds a bit hefty.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

sounds good, but dont forget you can link 2 2hp compressors and it would probably be cheaper.

One reason that does occur is that when I spoke to the guy who runs it when it was delivered for some advice his assumption was that I was
phoning to tell him that it had fallen over in transit. Apparently loads of them fell over in the couriers vans and had to be brought straight back
and replaced. Maybe they just couldn't be arsed any more. They are quite top-heavy but they take up very little floor space for the size of the
thing.
