i have aquired a bunch of brand new milling cutters. There are 2 types 2 flute and 4 flute
can anyone confirm that the 2 flute ones are slot drils and the 4 flute ones are end mills?

Basically yes, the two slot ones will over lap on the bottom to enable you to plunge down and drill holes to, the four slots can only cut on there
sides, as the flutes dont overlap the centre on the base.

If the ones with two don't overlap then they are end mills too

If it has one or a number of cutting edge across it's centre it's a "Drill" either 2, 3, 4.
If it hasn't it's a "Mill" that are manufactured in 3 - 20 or more flutes... and are not for centre cutting/plunging.
