Stuff for the emergency repair box
I'm planning on making up an emergency (repair) box with the bare minimum for roadside repair... What does anyone think
= Copy of insurance / road tax / RAC membership documents
= Puncture healing / tyre inflatting spray can thing
= Spare Fuses (including small fuel pump ones)
= Little can of WD40...
= Leatherman type pliers
= Tie wraps...
That's about it- sockets set / screwdrivers etc a bit heavy....
Any other useful suggestions

I decided that a little extra weight would be OK. I've got:
Breakdown info!
Tyre sealant/inflation spray
Small socket set
Adjustable spanner for bigger nuts
Allen keys
Small mole wrench
Short scredrivers
Penknife
Pliers
A few fuses
A few bulbs
A few cable ties
A couple of clean rags
Also:
Cagoule
Spare wooly hat
Goggles
Cut down nylon car cap
Earplugs
This all fits in the bottom of my boot box securely in place fairly low down, so I don't think it unduly affects weight/performance

I used to carry a spare clutch cable and fan belt - since modified clutch mechanism and haven't broken one in over a year - so that's out.
Carry a can of petrol though - call me a wimp, but I don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere (or Misson as it's known round
here!).

Torches - poundland does one with a magnetic base that plugs into lighter socket.
Gloves - leather 'rigger' gloves; Latex - several pairs.
Overalls - Sod's law you break down whilst wearing your best 'defendant' suit.

I've got one of those 'multitools' that you often see at petrol stations. It has helped me out twice now and is a permanent part of
my minimalist toolkit.
Keep a few cable ties handy - it is suprising what you can hold together with these.
An led torch is small and won't go flat in a hurry.
Cheers,
Raz

i've heard of lots of accelerator and clutch cables breaking (bad design i assume) but having a spare one seems a good idea.

I just carry a big flat head screw driver in the car with me so that I can re-adjust my clutch pedal when it gets knocked out of its setting! Oli.

I would second a small can of fuel, having run out just pasta remote junction on the M40. Had t wake a friend up and persuade their mum to come and
rescue me with a jerry can! It would be fair to say I wasn't the most popular person for a while! Also, pi$$ed the missus off a treat as it
started raining after 10 mins!

Handy wipes, you know, like the little sachets you get from KFC
And some cash for petrol or spares.
And finally a hammer, cable ties and tank tape, these can fix anything.
|
|
Confused but excited.

All these replies and no-one has suggested a pair of tights!
If it's cold and dark, getting these of her will soon warm you both up until the RAC get there.

Definatly add a fan belt and some duck tape - with a bit of imagination you can fix alot of things with it
I heard of someone making a CV boot form duck tape and cable ties once
