M8 Die
It's a bit of a cheeky long shot.
Does anyone have a decent M8 die I can borrow?
I have to cut 2 threads into a piece of A2 stainless rod and my die just isn't up to the task.
I know they're not massively expensive it's just I'm only going to cut 2 threads and then cast it into the box of other tools
I've bought to do just one job!

Die nut.
Reading on tapdie.co.uk it would seem that their die nuts aren't suitable for cutting a new thread. Does that go for all die nuts?

Die is round, a die nut is shaped like a nut

A die is for cutting new threads, a die nut is for sorting out existing mangled threads... usually. A die nut can make new threads, but (a)
they're not intended for that job, and (b) you'll have a difficult job starting the thread straight.

You're welcome!
Basingstoke is about 30 mins and stonehenge an hour - on a good run so worX isn't too far out
Ned.
ps since buying my set I've used them a lot more than once! This is what I bought, great value for money if you're happy to pay the
initial outlay. Will come in handy a lot more often than you think!
